Bom Sabado virus attacks Orkut, posts auto scraps

Just few days after the microblogging site Twitter was attacked by virus which sent its followers to porn sites, another popular networking hub Orkut is also affected by virus. Orkut, which is very popular in India, has been hit by a worm named 'Bom Sabado',which means 'Good Saturday' in Portuguese. Analysts told that the virus attacked the XSS (cross-site scripting) of the site. This virus posted scraps to the Orkut users with the text BomSabado and is sent to the users account by the name of the other friends account. Making it more severe the worm also adds affected users to new Orkut groups.

The security experts warned the users not to not log into their Orkut account until the
problem gets solved. Users are also advised not to click on any suspicious links.

Earlier on Sep 2010, the most popular social networking hub with more than 500 million users, Facebook, also faced networking glitches due to an outside technical problem. It was Facebook's most tragic outrage in its history.

Disable SHIF+DELETE

Sometimes we wonder how to disable Shift+Delete so that even if the key combination is used, the files always get to the Recycle Bin.

Unfortunately there isn't really a way to do this. You can disable it in particular applications, for example there is a registry hack to prevent it in Outlook, however I do not know of any for Windows Explorer.
You could use something like AutoHotKey to map Shift+Delete to Delete.
However, you would need AutoHotKey running all the time for this to work.
The AutoHotKey script to do this is as follows:
+Delete::
KeyWait Shift
Send {Delete}

But it's not possible to guarantee that files end up in the Recycle Bin.
Some files are too large. Or a user might delete too many files and a
file that was recently deleted gets evicted right away. Technically
that file went to the Recycle Bin, but for practical purposes it did not.
The TweakUI Powertoy lets you customize certain key-bindings but
Shift-Delete isn't one of them.

Delete the Recycle Bin Icon from the Desktop in XP

Background Checks

How to remove Recycle Bin Icon from Desktop
If  using XP Pro
Go to START > RUN
Type GPEDIT.MSC
Navagate to USER CONFIGURATION >ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES >Click on DESKTOP,
On the right hand pane find " Remove Recycle Bin icon on the desktop " , double left click on it to ENABLE it.
Sorted!

If using XP Home
Either use TweakUI or make the change manually in the registry.
Create or modify the following registry entry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

Stalled Printer Repair - Portable Application To Detect And Repair Stuck Print Jobs

If you own a printer I am pretty much confident that you must have encountered the dreaded issue of a stuck printer job, getting rid of a stuck print job is not as straight forward as it sounds and the worst part is that subsequent print or fax jobs sent to the queue will not print until the first job (which is unfortunately stuck) is cleared from the spooler queue this is also known as printer spooler restoration.

There could be various reasons for a print request to get stuck in the printer spooler queue which cannot be deleted, most of the time this is caused by a corrupt or incomplete print job sent by applications or any other reason which interrupts the print job in middle of the printing. I have been using a hand-coded dos-batch script to tackle this issue which simply stops the spooler service, deletes the queue content and re-starts the spooler service, now I have found a better alternative as free portable utility for Windows - Stalled Printer Repair.
Stalled Printer Repair detects existence of stalled print jobs and provides functions to purge all stalled print jobs on the Printer with ease, compatible with Windows NT, 2000, XP, and Vista the utility can be downloaded from the direct links provided below.

ilivid Player - Watch Videos While They Download From Rapidshare, Hotfile And Megaupload

One of the biggest limitation with videos hosted on one-click file-sharing websites like Rapidshare, Megaupload and Hotfile has been that you are not able to watch the video until all volumes of a split-archive gets downloaded, but we now have a solution to this in form of free Windows utility ilivid player which allows users to watch the video while it’s downloading to their computer.
ilivid Player
ilivid Player knows it's job well and works with all types of rar archives including multi-volume files with password protection, the utility fully supports Rapidshare (Free and Premium), Megaupload and Hotfile services and also comes with an optional toolbar which automatically grabs all video links from a web-page, starting playing the video just seconds after download of the very first link begins.
ilivid Player Link Grabber
ilivid Player can be great for previewing videos files before downloading the whole-set, the only thing which I did not liked about it was that the utility changed my Firefox and Internet Explorer homepage without asking first - this is bad, However,I checked the file with VirusTotal and it came out clean.

How To Trace Mobile Numbers in India

(India Only) With rapid growth in mobile phone subscribers in India and low call rates, most calls we receive on our mobile are form other mobiles. At the same time, to cater increasing user-base most operators come up with new series everyday which makes remembering a cell number increasingly hard. Also sometime we just want to trace a mobile number for reasons like unknown number in miss call list, to get hint of callers permanent location (sounds unlikely, I know…), etc.
But if you have a look at this wiki page, you can certainly trace any mobile number up-to the level of its mobile operator and state (or zone) that’s too using first 4-digit only. It (wiki page) lists all mobile number series in nice tabular manner categorizing them according to mobile operator and state (or zone).
Like other wiki pages, this wiki is also updated regularly and provides you with latest information. I have never been disappointed by it and I am using it for over a year.
If you prefer simpler interface where you can just enter your cell number and get the desired information, you can try this website.

5 Ways To Improve Your Adsense Earnings

If webmasters want to monetize their websites, the great way to do it is through Adsense. There are lots of webmasters struggling hard to earn some good money a day through their sites. But then some of the “geniuses” of them are enjoying hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense ads on their websites. What makes these webmasters different from the other kind is that they are different and they think out of the box.

The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of earnings in the past and is continuously doing so.

Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings.

1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.

2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.

4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as “adsense text”, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring.

If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.

PaperBus requires its Firefox add-on in order to properly proxify under Firefox. The add-on should automatically install upon application installation, and Firefox needs to be restarted after the add-on installs. Known issues:
- Sometimes the add-on doesn’t get installed correctly.
Solution: go to Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions and confirm that you see the PaperBus add-on. If not, manually install it by opening this link: http://www.paperb.us/addon/proxyctrl_current.xpi.
- Add-on installs correctly, but doesn’t work.
Solution: go to Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions, disable all add-ons other than the PaperBus add-on, then try again. If it works, you can reenable the add-ons you disabled.
